Sand Dollar Beach and the Rose Bay Salt Marsh

Sand Dollar Beach

Sand Dollar Beach, named in the days when sand dollars were plentiful in its shallow water, is on the north end of Rose Bay. The Municipality of Lunenburg provides parking and access on land donated by Steve and Angela Shewchuk.

The KCC helps to monitor this area for both safe use and beach protection.

The Rose Bay Salt Marsh, an area of Sand Dollar Beach, is facing development pressures. In the spring of 2008, the Luke and Janet Rimmington family helped save a one-acre property there, by proposing a donor/purchase agreement with the KCC. Over 100 donors to the “Save Sand Dollar Beach” fund came together to help with this acquisition. This land is the KCC’s first purchase off the Kingsburg Peninsula.
